Weather redux

On March 19, 2010 · 1 Comments

We had quite a little discussion here about weather a few days ago. Now I’ve got an update. Today, March 19, the morning started blue and beautiful. At three MST the sky is the kind of gray that presages a huge rainstorm. The wind is blowing and the petals from our apricot tree blossoms are flying through the air as thick as snow.

May I say that NM weather is unpredictable again? Tomorrow it might be 70 degrees or 30.

Asi es Nuevo Mexico.

cheers,

I received an email from someone interested in attending LCC Santa Fe the other day.  She wanted to know if we had snow in March.  For her, snow was a deal-breaker.  I honestly didn’t know how to answer her.

Thursday morning, there were two inches of snow on my car.  By noon, it was 50 degrees. Welcome to NM in March. Today, it was 65. All the daffodils and crocuses are blooming. I’ve seen mini irises, forsythia, hyacinth . . .

But tomorrow we could be in a deep freeze.

The lesson here is to really watch the weather reports a week before the convention. Santa Fe is 1000 feet higher than ABQ and tends to have slightly more winter-like weather longer than we do.  But there are no guarantees.

cheers,

Pari
