NM Quiz Question #1
I’ve been writing this blog for awhile and don’t have a sense whether people are reading it or not.
I do know that it’ll become more vital as we get closer to the convention. For it to be really effective, the conversation needs to start now. Heck, we’ve only got a little more than six months before this baby hits the runway.
Why not test your NM knowledge? We’ll both learn something in the process and might have fun while we do it.
I hope to ask a different question every day. That’ll be, um, let me get my caluculator here . . . around 180 or so. Should be doable.
Here’s the first one:
What’s the difference between “adobe” and “abode?”
cheers,

I love Laurie King’s answer. Funny and accurate. You are right, Pari, about book covers people think reflect New Mexico. My books feature New Mexico pueblo pottery, but the cover of the first one has a picture of a Navajo carved pot. You know the ones – greenware from Asia and then decorated for the tourists.
I’m amused, Laurie.
The problem is many of those NYC copy editors have never been here.
It’s the same issue as putting a saguaro cactus on a book cover with a story that takes place in NM. They just don’t grow here. People in the SW scoff at it. People in most of the rest of the country think it’s accurate.
Not much, if you live in the SW.
